Our last community outreach initiative for this year is “Touch Quilts”! For people with dementia touch quilts can be a stimulating and calming activity, including those with arthritis.
Jorie, our team member leading the touch quilt initiative, has contacted various members of the Bow Valley care community to assess their needs. The goal is 20 lap quilts that measure approximately 20″x20″. Nine 7 inch cut squares pieced 3×3 and then embellished will create a perfect size. Three quilts were handed in at our meeting so we have 17 to go!
In addition four 36″x36″ wall quilts have been requested. If you are interested in making a wall quilt please contact Jorie at firstname.lastname@example.org. We need two more volunteers.
To provide ideas and answer questions Jorie will be attending the May 4th QTYW zoom meeting from 1-3 pm. Touch quilts are a fun and quick project that make a big impact. Nine fun blocks sewn together.
